New volunteer – Nicolle

My name is Nicolle and I am a 25 years old Italian girl. I have just finished my master degree in International Relations this summer and thanks to Erasmus+ Program I had the opportunity to spend two semester in Poland, one in Poznan and one in Gdansk. In Gdansk I worked at my master thesis ‘project about German reunification and the problem of the border with Poland. I fall in love with this country and during these period of my life abroad I learned a lot about myself and about other cultures. I improved my English hanging out with people coming from all over Europe. I faced several challenges I always thought I was not able to deal with.

After that Europe was not enough for me, I wanted to know more about the world so I applied for a project in Brazil. It was one of the best experience of my life. I met such a kind people! I get used to a culture that is completely different not only from the mine one but also from the one of Europe so this made the things quite difficult for me at the beginning. Due to this cultural differences I learned to appreciate every single moment I have and to spend as much time as possible with different people from all over the world.

I found this EVS opportunity at the end of November, in a particular period of my life. It was a kind of sign for me. I’ve never stopped to think about Gdansk and about all the memories I collected after that experience. In addition it was exactly what I would like to do: get inside the world of international projects. I believe cultural exchanges are one of the best way to enter in contact with other cultures, going out from your comfort zone.  I am participating to this EVS project because I want to contribute as much as I can to make these projects possible. I think all the youth should have the possibility to go out of their own country and taste the international life and the EVS makes it possible for everybody.

As all my Erasmus friends say: “”ONCE ERASMUS, ALWAYS ERASMUS!”
